Formula to Associate Number to Name in another sheet

I have a sheet (Contacts) with my customer contacts in it and a separate sheet (Customers) with my customer companies in it.  The “Contacts” do not have the company name, but they have a “custID” number which matches a column in the “Customers” sheet.

is there a way to make a formula to say if custID is 2587 then “Name” is XXX based on a lookup from the columns on the other sheet.

    I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting
    article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
    Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you
    did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever
    before.

    Use VLOOKUP as follows;
    =VLOOKUP(custID1,Area2!,CompanyNameColumn,FALSE)
    Note:
    -custID1 is the id no.s for contacts’ sheet
    -Area2! is the other array of the sheet where to check the company names!
    -Company Name should be the column where to pick the co. names
