In Microsoft Excel, sometimes when you add a new or existing chart to a workbook in you may receive the error message below:
No More New Fonts may be Applied in this Workbook
This problem is caused by Excel’s Auto scale setting. When adding a chart to a workbook, Excel automatically enables the Auto scale. The Auto scale forces the chart to use two or possibly more fonts instead of one font. As a result, you can very quickly exceed the maximum number of fonts (512) allowed in Excel when adding multiple charts. If you add charts manually or if you copy and paste existing charts, you can reach the font limitation for a workbook.
To prevent this problem from occuring you could disable the Autoscale setting.
- Select the chart.
- In the Format menu, select Selected Chart Area.
- Select the Font tab.
- Unselect the Autoscale check box.
- Click OK.
- Repeat the above for multiple charts that you may have.
