Using Excel’s INFO Function

Using Microsoft Excel’s INFO Function we can quickly find out what operating system your PC is using.

The INFO Function returns information about the current operating environment. The format of the function is written as =INFO(type_text). You replace type_text with specific information you want to know.

The INFO Function should be used with caution. Use of it can reveal sensitive or confidential information to other users.

Simply type the this function into any cell and it will display the operating system for you.

=INFO("osversion")

For my laptop it gave the result as Windows (32-bit) NT 6.00.

If you want to know the path of the current directory or folder type into any cell the following:

=INFO("directory")

In my example I had a result of C:\Users\Andy\Documents\
